Evergreen, Tetraploid, Early to Mid-season repeat bloomer. 6 1/2 inch (wingspan 9 inches) cascading unusual form bitone with pink petals and lavender sepals. DIZZY has a large dark pink chevron eye and a large green throat. 29 to 32 inch sturdy scapes have multiple branching. Will occasionally give a very showy poly bloom. Easy pod and pollen fertile and has been a good parent for unusual forms with multiple branching and good bud count. This year we are released our first introduction from DIZZY MISS LIZZY, CRAZY MISS DAISY.
PLEASE NOTE: During the 2006 bloom season in my zone 8a garden, DIZZY MISS LIZZY produced 36 to 40 inch scapes, with 30 to 40 buds on established clumps, with its rebloom scapes having 3 way branching, 16 buds. It was also noted on Long Island that DIZZY was showing 36 inch scapes with 22 buds on an established clump.
DIZZY MISS LIZZY has been reported to be somewhat tender on the south shore of Long Island and bounces back just fine in the Spring. Spring shipping is recommended along with winter mulching north of Zone 7.
CUSTOMER COMMENT
Hi, Nan,
I thought you'd like to know here in my zone 5a garden Dizzy Miss Lizzy has three to six-way branching (two scapes with four-way branching, one with three-way branching, one with six-way branching). The scape with six-way branching has 21 buds. There are two rebloom scapes coming up as well with two-way branching. What a fun cultivar! I really love this one. I'm glad the talk about it being a bit tender didn't deter me. DML has had no hardiness issues here. I have never mulched or protected it. We do not have steady snow cover here. The ground is bare most of the time and at times we have smothering ice layers (from thaw and re-freeze). I can't remember when you sent DML, but it is now an eight-fan clump plus one tiny ninth fan.Scape height is 36 inches. Here it is an early midseason bloomer and it will be blooming for quite a while. Blooms are nicely spaced and presented on those wonderful scapes.
